I picked this up in the forums, and it's supposed to be current.

wisdom medal = forest, grassland, hill
courage medal = desert, hill
nation medal = lake, swamp
freedom medal = swamp, flatland
cross medal = lake, flatland
honor medal = forest, grassland
lion medal = desert, grassland
justice medal = desert, hill
rose medal = lake, flatland

The % chance of getting a medal is defined by the level of the valleys. I hope this is true, forests and grasslands: Here I come!
